Has anyone struggled to get Car Insurance?

just wondered as my car insurance is due for renewal and last year I had to ask my parents if they would pay my insurance in full for me and I repay them as I was declined car insurance on a pay monthly basis.

I just assumed that was because I am in an IVA that that happened to be last year... dont really want it happening again if poss...

  • Hi, I had an IVA (which finished in July 2011 - but its still waiting to be passed for closure as my IP are claiming I owe more money - but thats another story) and when we applied for cheaper car insurance we were also turned down on a pay monthly basis.

Thanks. I had a feeling this would be the case as it happened to me once last year forcing me to pay in full. Don't know what I am going to do this year as I can't do that again!!

Do you mind me asking why your IP haven't closed you case? On what grounds are they saying you owe money? Surely that's what these annual reviews are for?

ive not had a problem in two years on an iva doing monthly repayments-maybe it depends on the company?

  • I have to say I didnt have a problem, but I'd been with the insureres previously, though not at the time I entered the IVA. Whether having been a previous customer made any difference is anyone's guess, but I never defaulted or missed payments with them.

When I actually took out the insurance, I'd had the IVA for two years. But that was just beford the credit crunch too...:(

I finished my IVA in Jan 2011 and I never had a single problem getting pay monthly car insurance.
