I believe that as housing benefit and council tax discount are means tested, they may increase as household income falls (i.e. the loss of WTC).
I second the earlier poster, go to the Debt Free wanabee board for some advice about if/how you can earn extra and keep your WTC without it all going to creditors.0 -
thank you all for your advise.xxI SPOKE TO A WISE OLD MAN THE OTHER DAY.

You don't sound silly! It's a common mis-conception. You're worried only natural.thanx cosmic-dust
sorry if i sound silly...i do enjoy my job..i ve done for 25 years now, i dont wont to leave but because off the WTC situation in april losing money untill i get another job im try to see what options are out there, this is all new to me.I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!0 -
If you increase your hours your wages will increase, you will still qualify for Tax Credit but the amount paid will be less than now so in affect they should be no change to your income.0

thank you again for all your help..
just made a few calls and looked at some bills etc.
going to work 15 hours NOT claim jsa (i can't anyway), will lose WTC (which i will in april, even if working 16 hours), but will receive full help with HB and C/TAX.
so what i lose with one, i gain with another, (worse of weekly, but better of with rent and c/tax)
thank you xxI SPOKE TO A WISE OLD MAN THE OTHER DAY.
