  • Cheap Gastric Band Surgery is one of the best way to get rid of the extra fat and this procedure is totally safe with very few exceptions of deaths on the operating table and is very affordable to the pocket...!!! you must go for it...!!!

i have had lipo stomach tuck and boob job to an extent it work in that my shape change drastically and im still very happy with the results
but i still stuggle to keep the weight off and in control and seriously considered a gastric band but im nowhere near overweight enough for it
so i recently had a hypnotic gastric band, when i left i thought it was a load of !!!!!!!! and a waste of money as i didnt feel any different
but since i had it done on august 1st i eat no where near as much as what i did in the past probably about a 1/4 of what i used to eat and when i do eat i feel satifised and full up and if i eat a bit to much i get a pain just below my chest

i have lost 6lbs in 3 weeks and the best thing is that i no longer crave food in between meals
i can go and buy a newspaper and not walk out with a bar of chocolate, i can read a book and not munch away on sweets and chocolates either
and i no longer have this feeling of always feeling hungry and snacking all the time and my sweet tooth has gone
even if i didnt loose another pound if i could stay the way that i feel with regard to not feeling hungry and in control of eating i would be happy
  • I started this thread in 2006 and just saw that it had bumped up lately so I thought I would update things about me. I ummed and aahed for ages about WLS - I REALLY wanted a band but the surgeon I saw was reluctant because I had alot of weight to lose and he said it wasn't effective long term in people with lots to lose. I wasn't sure if this was just to try and persuade me to part with more cash for a bypass but then he suggested that I might want to consider a sleeve gastrectomy.

This involves taking away part of the stomach but not changing the plumbing (as with a DS or a gastric bypass) and the mortality stats are very similar to a band. After much consideration I decided to have the sleeve.

I had it done privately by Gravitas in Wirral at the end of last year and have so far lost 7.5 stone and still have a bit more to lose. IT cost me £12k for the operation and two year's aftercare.

What I would say is that it is not something to enter into lightly - I think that my sleeve is probably much better for me than a band because there is no food which I can't eat (and with a band there are all kinds of things) - I can just only eat very small amounts. Tonight for tea I had a slice of home made pizza and some rhubarb for afters. The piece of pizza was small but it filled me up really well. I try not to eat pizza and stuff often, but sometimes it is just nice to feel "normal".

If you google sleeve gastrectomy you will be able to read about it. Sleeves are increasingly being done on the NHS, but it is dependant on PCT's and I think that it is getting very hard to get funding at the moment.

Thanks for the update recovering spend. I've am very lucky in that the nhs has approved funding for me to have surgery. I had my first appointment with the consultant today and will be put on the waiting list which I believe is about a wait or 3 or 4 months. Initially I was going for the band, but have now read up a bit about the sleeve and think it might be a better option. Still very confused but can make my mind up at any point.
