thunderbird help pls - cant send email

last few days, could recieve but not send from either of 2 ntlworld.com email address's via thunderbird
lots of people on here helped,(another thread) virgin media systems changed last weekend. reset out going server from ntlworld.com to virginmedia.com.... but still couldnt get thunderbird to work -vigin helpline remotely took over my pc & showed how to use virgin media website email on the 2 address's
Virgin dont support thunderbird, they were very kind and did try to get it to work - but gave up and said use virgin... which works...

i really like the plain simple layout of thunderbird, i use a tiny netbook, i get a whole screen of emails, no adverts / banners etc - the virginmedia email screen is awful, given me a headache -

please can anyone help me configure thunderbird to work please (i've used it with out problem for many years) - thank you

This seems to happen to us from time to time. Whenever it does I log into Virgin directly (via the website) and check my e-mails that way (and delete thousands). Thereafter it seems to be OK again until the next time
