laguna 2 1.9 dci Heater blower

Hi , looking for any advice on heater problem. The heater had stopped working on settings 1 2 and 3 but worked on the 4th, for about 2 weeks, now has stopped completely. Ive read that if it still works on 4th its the resistor ,but no idea if thats the same when all settings stop working. Im rambling on but im completely clueless about it, any help is appreciated.

  • very common problem in the laguna 2 and the meganes.

theres two faults that cause this. the actual heater dial in the dash itself or the heater resistor on the heater matrix behind the dash.

are you ready for some really stupid prices from renault? could cost you in the region of £350+vat.

in early type renault 2003-2006 models the heater resistor packs were know for horribly burning out leaving you with just one or 2 heater blower options.

this is by far a horrible fix for the DIY mechanic and use of a haynes manual is recomended. CAUTION!! PASSENGER AIRBAG MAYBE REQUIRED TO BE REMOVED!!!
theres an upgraded wiring loom that goes from the heater dial upto the heater pack and a new heater pack to be installed, half of the dash need taking out to gain access to the heater resistor that encased on the side of the heater matrix by a black cover.

an auto lecky would be able to do this but again its around the £150 mark for the job and parts.
  • I had exactly same problem with my 05 Grand Scenic, exactly as you described. I managed to get a second hand resistor pack from Just Renault for about £35 i think. Give them a google.
    Up the Rams !!

I had same problem on a scenic, I initially tried DIY but it was SO fiddly to get to and didnt want to cut wires and resolder etc because of the limited access, so then tried about 6 local garages/auto electricians who as soon as I told then what car it was didnt want to know, ended up forking out £300 plus at renault!!!!!

yip will still have this fault especially really early laguna 2's im suprised it lasted this long as usually they lasted just out of warranty when new.

an auto lecky should be able to sort it out especially now as renault brought out the upgrade with the loom also.

it is a pain in the rsole to do. if a lecky can do it for £100-150 then that better than renaults crappy £350+vat.
