I fully understand the need to obtain probate before release of inherited funds. But I need to pay IHT before probate. I need information to help complete the IHT forms. I made the request for this information on 28th July and I still have not had financial information. My father had 14 different bank accounts and everyother bank has provided details when with 10 working days. Santander takin so far over three months ( that's nearly half the time have before I am required to pay IHT). Abbey have repeatedly told me that onformation has been sent to me.0

2. Sounds daft, but get someone idenpendent involved to deal with this, a Solicitor.
Sorry about your loss.
(Oh and just emailing some oggle programme won't make you happy)
Freddie, you were obviously down the Dog & Duck when the episode of Watchdog was on concerning Santander's service as this was the email address that Santander gave out for viewers who had service issue with them.2014 Target;

As I am doing the probate and IHT myself - my father's estate is not complex. And I am a para legal with access to solicitors at work for advice. Its just frustrating that Abbey are failing to provide information. Followed by lies, misinformation and rudeness. I obtained the CEO's details for santander uk. Got a letter 1st class next day saying my complaint would be looked into. No information about when though. I contacted complaints and told I would have to wait 10 weeks for a reply to my complaint. They cannot even review complaints to see which ones are urgent. I am beginning to think they are c**ts.:eek:0

My experience was almost identical to that of Annie Get Your Gun, except that my mother died in February 2011 and here we are 3 months later without her money. Latest is that they can't find the second form that I sent in even though it was tracked to their premises by the post office.
Did you get the money eventually?0 -

Anyone else had experience of these buffoons? I just faxed a copy of the form to them (the one they can't find even though it was delivered recorded delivery) then rang the person I faxed it to, only to be told that he won't receive it straight away because it goes into a system and eventually appears in his inbox. It was about 4 pm on Friday, and he said it may not appear in his inbox until after he's gone home. I said if that's the case I'll call him on Monday to confirm he's received it. Guess what, he's away on Monday and Tuesday, and no-one else will be able to access his inbox.
Every other organisation I had to inform about my mum's death has been brilliant, sympathetic and efficient, from her life insurance co. to Sky TV. Life insurance co. paid out within a week or two. Something is horribly wrong with Santander. Is there a banking ombudsman I can complain to?0
