AVG dump files -free some space

I wondered where all my free space on my hard drive was going.
I knew about regular things to free space like:
-disabling Hibernate
-deleting Cache & Temp files
-emptying Recycle Bin
-compacting Outlook Express files
-running scan disk to find lost fragments.
-switching off System Restore
-reducing Paging Swap file size
Last september I started to gradually delete the windows update Uninstall folders, 50-100MB chunks.
But I then noticed my free space was still disappearing, even when I checked the regular space eaters above I know of.
I couldn't work out what was going on, even though I use Pc for limited number of things that shouldn't really be eating space.
So from September to now (January) I had freed quite a lot of space 800+MB by deleting windows uninstall folders, but it had gradually disappeared.
Couldn't work out why as I wasn't doing anything special, hadn't installed anything.
Final straw was last week, I freed another 100M, had 300+MB free, but it all seemed to vanish quickly to where I just had less 50Mb free and was getting problems using windows.
Had a nose around on Pc, did Disk defrag, noticed some files of type:
avgupd.exe_1234567***********_F.dmp
which couldn't be defragged.
The files are in folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\avg8\Dumps
Realised there was a mass of these large 30-40+MB files, one file was 175MB !
In January these AVG dump files have eaten 430MB !!
In total the 126 dump files were using 1480+MB !!
No I wonder I don't have any free space.
I have moved most of these files to another drive to free space on C drive.
So if you're losing free space & don't know why check for the AVG dump files.
I am using AVG Free Edition 8.5
.

Go to system tools, disc clean up and tick the files you want to clean up, then click ok. Remove AVG using the AVG removal tool.Download Avast antivrus. Download Ccleaner and run this. That will do for starters - let us know how you get on.
Always useful to know what operating system you're using andthe make and model of computer.0 -
