Haifax Making Me Wait

When did halifax change the system that you need to wait 7 days after changing a phone number, before you can setup a new payment or send any payments.

Had an old number on my account i changed, system said it would be changed instantly, i go to add a new payment and it says i need to call a number there now saying they need to send me a code and i need to wait 7 days to it resets.

This is sooo stupid its sounding more like paypal.

Can anyone tell me if this is the case or anyway around it.

No. But you can still make payments in branch or by calling them.

Next time you should add your new number 7 days before you need to stop using the old one. Unless of course you can't get the new one until the old one is cancelled.

How many numbers did you have? Adding a fresh number gets hit by a 7 day delay, so I added three numbers when my account was opened (home, mobile, work), so hopefully will not get inconvenienced too much if I change one of them.

It's their way around not having to give you PIN devices. Which are the more painful.

  • Hi I am having the exact problem I was sent a security code I updated my numbers waited 8 days and still cannot set up a new payment or standing order. After 2 calls they have said that they will ask the IT Dept to look at my account but this will take another 5-7 working days!!! How useless can they be, basically this issue has now been going on since about the 15/01 for me. It's really not acceptable. I think I will have to change banks as I really need an online account that works.

i thought online banking was to save you time. This "new" system is awful, said they cant manually override the system now.

And yea sending out a bit of paper with apin, compared to a device that generates must save them alot. Well im not waiting im withdrawing the money first thing tomorrow and using another method.
