Help Please from a complete novice!!

Hi all please take it easy on me I'm completely new to your site and forum and am looking for some help and advice.

A few months ago a PPI claim company (Investor Compensation) cold called me and after a long phone conversation I agreed to claim on a Barclays loan I took out in 2008 for £8,000.
I did the usual thing of completing the required paperwork and sent it off to them. Well that was at the start of December and so far have heard very little from them since.

Well this morning I recieved a letter from Barclays offering me £850 and a reduced loan payment scheme for the rest of the period of the loan.

My dilemma is what do I do now? Do I contact the ppi company and tell them or do I deal with Barclays direct. I know if I do that the ppi company will ask me for fees?

Any advice would be greatfully appreciated!!!!!

Hi jportch, really unfortunate that you went with a claims company, all they have done is get you to supply the information and sent it off for you :( now you are going to lose at least 25% of your redress. You will probably find that Barclay's will have informed Investor Compensation of the uphold and as such they will be contacting you for their fee, not sure of what terms you signed up to but it is usually 25% + vat. Also you may have to pay tax on any 8% interest payment :(

    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)
