Replacing central heating programmer?

Any tips on replacing a Honeywell ST6400 programmer? It works fine except that the backup battery (which is soldered onto the ciruit board) has failed, so it doesn't store the on/off times if there is a powercut. I am trying to avoid paying £50 for a new programmer, when the only fault is with the battery. Have phoned Honeywell to see if they do a refurb/ exchange, but the answer is NO.
Can anyone recommend an alternative, that does separate hot water and heating, different times and days, preferbly with a battery that can be changed. Ideally, also fits the standard back plate so I don't have to have an electrician in to rewire and make it an even bigger expensive job.
Any suggestions welcome.

Keep searching for a week or two and maybe you will find a used one for peanuts.0 -
Go to a plumbers merchant (not plumb centre!) and ask about a replacement.
Most programmers have a universal back plate where a new programmer will just 'clip' on without touching the wiring.0 -
