Hi Guys
I am looking to buy a car from a main dealer (Peugeot) the car is around the £17,000 mark nad is 6 month old used car.
Are there any tips you have for getting the price down a little? What do i need to ask them to include in the deal.
The car will be a cash payment, no part exchange.
Thanks in advance

Go in saying you have only a set amount (i.e £15,500) and go from there. It worked for my dad last year. Once he was getting to a good price he asked for full tank, year's tax, first service free and that stuff they put on seats to keep clean ( bit like scotch guard?)
Oh and be prepared to walk away. I remember they said to him "are you prepared to walk away for sake £400?" He said " yes, are you prepared to loose sale?"0 -
Hello natanddan1
Your thread will be better suited to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, so I'll move it across.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Why not give us the exact model, mileage extras etc and we can have a look at what is available.0

Its a Peugeot 407 coupe 2.2L (06 reg)
2580miles
It has full leather and satnav as extras.
I really want the V6 3.0L GT version if i can get it for around £17K
Thanks in advance0 -
I have had a quick look and although I am not sure how good these deals are they might help with haggling
This one here looks like a pre-reg but you will need to phone and check (also bea in mind cost of delivery
There are a couple HERE BRAND NEW 407 COUPE 2.2 SE £15,995.
Remember if you buy before the new plate comes in you should be able to really squeeze the dealers.0 -
One thing I would say is that all (or very nearly all) brand new 407 Coupes in the country have the "optional" sat nav installed and there is a dealer bonus to get rid of them, so you may find that the total price is closer to £17k.

I have been quoted £18000 for a brand new 2.2L black / red leather with Satnav. on the road.
I have done the same spec on the link above and it comes out at £16680 on the road and delivered!!!!!!!
Has anyone had experiance of this company and is it safe?0 -
I've no connection with the company whatsoever, not even as a customer, but they've an excellent reputation for selling cars through main dealers and have been in existence for 10 years. Their reputation is such that I'd use them without hesitation but with the caveat that I think the quoted price was based on stock cars only (due to a £500 bonus).
My info. is basically coming from here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=48229Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350

'Drive the deal' is a great company. You pay the dealer direct once you have ordered your car. I have ordered a VW Golf through them before and they are highly recommended.0
