Best place to live within commuting distance of Belfast

Err, why not just live in Belfast?
Depending on where you chose, you may find less crime, no divides, no acts of random violence, good facilities, good local schools, etc.
Where I am it is slightly warmer, because of the sea, slightly drier if rainfall charts are anything to go by. The air is also cleaner.
The valley that Belfast is in with its views of hills also traps in pollution. I have always wondered if there are any medical reasons for those with respiratory problems to consider moving out?[STRIKE]Less is more.[/STRIKE] No less is Less.0 -

In fact, with hosue prices plummeting, by next near you'll probably be able to do it for £200k! :eek:0 -
I would have thought that, for 400k, you should be able to easily find a house within Belfast that ticks those boxes.

Exactly. Pick up a nice new build in Danesfort with 50K change.
Next year you'll probably have 100K change.
Why not wait and get what you want in Malone for a lot less money.0 -
...plenty of good schools around Danesfort.0

Why not live in Belfast? I sometimes go there and it seems quite a nice place.0

Bangor. Easy commute on the train and currently since we're apparently closed you could just buy Main Street for your 400k budget.0

Anywhere from four winds up to Caryduff on the Saintfield Road would be a good option. Whilst there is no rail link the bus service is very good and there is a new park and ride at Cairnshill which you can just use normally as an express bus route. Lots of local amenities nearby and living here myself its really quiet!! Good luck wherever you choose..:)0

Ballygowan....crap bus service, no trains, limited schools BUT 10 miles from Belfast, two pubs, pizza place, Chinese, two chippies, Post Office, filling station with shop, Costcutter, chemist and of course Ruthies (papers, mags, cards, lottery and sweets!)
Don't forget the butchers, barbers, beauty treatment place, bookies and the wedding dress shop too!
Totally agree about the buses though - very poor timetable but short distance from Belfast and Ards council area, so rates are quite reasonable.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
