I have a HP Compaq Mini running XP, and i now no longer use it much and want to give it to my Nephew. Over the 3 yrs i've had it, I have installed quite a bit of software, so would rather do a complete reset. As it has no disk drive, is this possible??

This following MAY work for you - but do you have any documentaion that came with it or perhaps manual on the computer, that should tell you how to factory re-set /.

One way of returning to Factory Settings is as follows

Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f11 as soon as you press the power button to see if this will launch Recovery Manager - if it does, you can use this to reinstall the OS.
