How long does it take for a fine to arrive?

A couple of weeks ago we went out shopping in Leeds. My husband was driving - he is not native to Leeds and has not really driven in the city centre much at all.

He made an error and we ended up on a bus lane and I have since found out this particular bus lane has an enforcement camera. I told him at the time that we weren't allowed on that stretch of road, it's one of those where buses, taxis etc can go straight on but all other traffic has to turn left and he didn't turn left (I did tell him to but for some reason he didn't).

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the fine to arrive? This happened nearly two weeks ago and I'd like to know when to expect it! I accept that we were completely in the wrong so will be paying it promptly. It was on a Saturday, do the rules apply on a weekend?

Plenty of bus lanes have camera signs but don't have any cameras on them at all.

Normally they have 28 days, but it's not hard and fast.

There are lots of ways that any ticket you receive can be appealed, so unless you have some moral reasons for doing so, don't simply pay as soon as you get a ticket over this (if you do, of course)

Go to pepipoo and see what they have to say about bus lane tickets.

    What did the signs say?

Some bus lanes are only Monday to Friday.
Some might be Saturday and/or Sunday too.

Some might be for certain hour only, e.g. rush hour.

Some might be for the working day only, e.g. 7am to 7pm.

    Etc, etc.

Have a look on Google Street View and see if you can read the signs.
  • I've had a look on Google street view, and there is no sign giving times, just a sign stating that it is a bus and taxi lane. According to the Leeds City Council website, any bus lane that does not have a sign with times on, is operational 24 hours a day every day apart from Sunday so I'm fully expecting a fine :-(

It definitely has a camera - there was an article in the Yorkshire Evening Post about this particular bus lane and it's camera just today.
