upgrade flights for £503, expensive?

thomas cook has contacted us saying we can upgrade our flights for £503 total (2ppl) to premium class,
as we stand now we are just economy i think, we are traveling to cuba so it will be a faily long flight,
so has any of you guys got experiences for both economy and premium class to help me decide, i think its fairly expensive but im not sure what you get extra for the money.
also there is only 3 seats left so i need to decide fast,
thanks

My travel offer me this for £150pp no wonder they'd all sold out by the time I rang, as it seems value for money. Compered to tomas cook.
    I'll get me coat!
  • Are the flights with thomas cook? sometimes they use other airlines. With first choice you would get priority check in, 62 passengers in premium, compared to 196 in standard, so a speedier check in.

Increased baggage allowance from 20kg to 30kg.

board and disembark first, luggage off first.

bigger seat pitch, more comfortable seats, ie footrests, moveable headrests, more recline.

free drinks throughout flight, upgraded meal, good quality by airplane standards.

Upgraded entertainment system, stop and start movies etc, interactive games.

less passenger to crew ratio, so more attentive service regarding drinks etc.

i think its good value, but relative to your budget.

The only down side could be, the seat configuration. if there are only 3 left, the could be behind each other and not side by side.

ask them. also try to haggle the price down.

remaining seats are sometimes sold on board for around 160.00 to cuba.

but its very rare that they are left empty.

It is about £126 each way per person, sounds OK.

Ask them how the seats are configured, will there be another person sat next to you?

I personally would not pay to upgrade. My husband and I flew BA to China in December and were fortunate enough to be upgraded to world traveller plus, free of charge outbound, normal charge £260 each way per person! This was a lovely bonus as it was the start of my husbands 50th birthday holiday, and cattle class was absolutely crammed full, world traveller plus had loads of empty seats! However, at checkin on return the upgrade was being offered at £100 pp. I would have been spitting feathers if I had paid £260 pp for upgrade when booking made!

As it happened the return flight was quite empty and we got loads of space, and the arms between seats move in cattle class, giving stretch out space, in world traveller plus, they don't as all the handsets etc for enteratinment are stored in armrest!

I have noticed several times at various check ins that upgrades are offered if available at less than the original cost.

I consider the cost of the upgrade quite a lot for the extras you get, but it is personal choice.

I've noticed that on BA planes, a downside of their premium econ seats.

Personally I don't think BA WT+ is worth it, however if you do book you get full TPs and full miles (plus bonus).

    Hi vsumouse

We flew with Thomas Cook to Cuba and were too late to get either an upgrade or extra legroom seats. Believe me, the flights in economy were purgatory, especially for my very tall husband! We'd have sold our Grannies to have had Premium Class seats.

  • Upgrade.

You will regret it when you are sat there all cramped up - don't leave it to the airport to take a chance as you may be evry dissapointed. We always fly BA WT+ as our holiday starts as soon as we get on the plane so want a bit more room to stretch out.

It's your choice but beware of what you would loose if you don't get good seats.
