In early january my parking permit ran out I live in Hove, and the council have the most ruthless parking attendants. I recieved one ticket, one evening, there was noting i could do that night. i recieve another the next morning and another that evening!! I backdated my permit, challenged the tickets and have just recieved a letter back saying that I still have to pay £90 in the next 14 days OR £180 thereafter. Is there another way? these were brighton and hove council parking fines, not police fines. I heard these are different...? can anyone help me?

You could just not pay and when it goes to court just produce your parking permit that is dated now before the tickets..0

Yeah, I'm not too good at just waiting things out! But i just went down to the council parking place, and the woman said that it was ridiculous that I had still been fined. She took all three letters off me and said I was not to worry about it and she'd sort it. So, I recommend anyone to go and talk face to face to a council person, they seem much more helpful that those bloomin phone lines!0

Send them 180 cheques for 50p - means they'll be paying more in charges to pay them in than they are banking.... you'll have to set your printer up to do the work for you though!
I just came to the conclusion that although I was technically right to appeal, they would never let me off so I made it hard for them

You might want to have a little think about who "they" are and who is actually paying all of those bank charges. What goes around - comes around0 -
Just to say, I got my letter back today letting me off all three parking tickets. Met a guy the other day who said he'd lived in this area 15 years and recieved hundreds of parking tickets and always got out of paying them! I love fighting the system, especially when its some pimply teenager who got a holiday job doing mailshots for the council and sent you one by mistake! I wonder how many times I've paid something and I could've gotten out of it before...0
