is there a way i can get more updated versions of the sat. views on here, currently i'm seeing 2006, somehow I thought there was a way of subscribing to it

Except Google Earth Pro doesn't give you more up to date images than the free version - see the FAQ
Google add up to date images as soon as they license it. It all depends on the availability of the images (since it's no easy task to take high resolution satellite or aerial pictures), so some areas are more up to date and better quality than others.0 -
