I'm looking to take out buildings and contents insurance for a buy to let property. Is this insurance generally more expensive than residential insurance? Can anyone recommend a company/policy to go for?
Thanks in advance

Hi There,
There is a company called Let plan who will be able to do this for you, but, Im not sure if they deal direct with the public, ask a broker/agent to check it for you. There prices are a bit more expensive than your run of the mill policy and there are certain conditions to the policy.
I worked in insurance for 17 years (left last April to become a stay at home mum).
There probably are other companies who will be able to deal with this for you, but, Let Plan was the only one we dealt with. You could also try the company who you have your main house insured with.

Some policies will not cover you for accidential damage by tenants. This will probabaly in your tenancy agreement though0

Personally I use Ashburnham, who are brokers & cheap, but have never claimed so I don't know how good they are.0 -
