................ The whole process left me bemused..............

    It does appear it did.

    But's that's how it works!

Don't stress over the sellers that do get it wrong, and write misleading descriptions.

Great, as I expected about the deposit. Let us know how you get on!

Is your sig quoting that girl in Educating Essex? :rotfl:

Yeah it is lol. Still makes me laugh now xD.
If it's the 528 I think it is, it looks a tidy barge - private seller, both keys, service records and he sounds honest enough mentioning stuff that's broken. Sunroof too.
Don't panic, I just looked on ebay, I don't know the car personally.
Good luck. You have more bottle than I do :D

Sounds like the same one, bit of trim broken and fixed with some tape?

250977622614 is the item number if anyone wants to have a look.

Did I get a good deal? I don't know yet. It looks really well looked after, the seller was really helpful with the few questions I had, and have no reason to doubt what ge has said.

Tomorrow at 2ish I should have it. Going to find a few twisties local to me on the way back I think!
What is pi? Where did it come from?

Too true. Traders seem to see customers as cash cows
And often as idiots who have no clue...

Car advert: 2002 Ford Focus (Y reg)

    DVLA check returns:
    Date of First Registration 20 03 2001
    Year of Manufacture 2000

None of the above is 2002....

That's why I won't pay a deposit, you have no chance of getting it back if it's a dodgy seller, and I can't see a decent one needing one anyway.

CC chargeback can be hit and miss, some won't as paypal is the third party, and it's an authorised transaction.
Paypal normally ban you for life afterwards as well.

Cash on collection is the only way for me.

    +1

A lot of sellers say 'deposit of £100 by paypal within 24 hrs of auction close' - no way i'd do that. You turn up, its a pup, and you've no mission of getting your money back.

Not as if its even a 51 plate or whatever and could conceivably be 01 or 02 - any halfwit knows a Y reg cannot be later than 2001!

Back home in South Cumbria, God's waiting room, you occasionally see ads for cars that obviously belonged to the husband who passed away. I exaggerate for effect but along the lines of 'Red car for sale. Very shiny.'

I took it VERY slowly on the way home. Its a lovely car to drive, so quiet its unbelievable, it doesn't sound like its on. Its a bit scary having a MPG thing under the rev counter...put your foot down to overtake and it goes all the way to 10mpg!

Don't think I'll get bored for a while...I like the sports gears a lot ;).

Some photos if anyone is interested.

:T, Looks like you found a decent honest seller there :T

Now, not trying to take anything away from you, or ebay selling, but I'd lay odds that for every genuine and honest dealer/seller, there are 4 or 5 that are mis describing out of either dishonesty or pure ignorance.
I'm not just saying that because it's an online purchase, I've lost count of the number of times I went to view a car that was described as "immaculate" or "showroom", only to view it by driveby and head for home.

Just intended to encourage the old buyer beware saying (cavaet em whatever) ;), and never be afraid to reject if it appears dodgy.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    Stunning car that, well in!

I've brought 1 car off eBay, thought it seemed too good to be true but got my bargain motor and was better than I expected!
