When you mean "windows mail" do you mean an address @hotmail.com/@live.com or @plus.net (or @madasafish or @totalise )4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

sorry if this sounds dumb but when you click on the windows icon bottom left of screen then click on inbox windows mail and yes the address in via plunet.com.
I remember having to follow plusnet instructions to connect it to them and thought I may be able to do the same with sky because i prefer to keep this one separate from a hotmail acc I have. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

Plusnet are active on twitter now. @plusnet Or phone them on 0800 432 0200
EDIT: If you end up keeping the @plusnet email address then you can still use "inbox windows mail" BUT you will need to change some settings for SENDING email as follows:-
1. You need to change settings in Windows Mail. Accessing this program is descrbed here
http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/windows_mail_setup.shtml
2. The settings to change are as follows:-
Outgoing email server (SMTP name) -> smtp.live.com
And the tricky bits :-(I cannot find a Sky FAQ on this so you may have to ask here if you get stuck)
port 25
If you run into problems sending mail, try "587" for the SMTP port instead.
SMTP SSL required: yes
SMTP authentication: yes
SMTP user name: your Sky provided username
SMTP password: your Sky provided password

Grumpycrab, they never gave me the option to keep it, just disconnected me even though we were still in correspondence about them overcharging me.
I was happy with their service in the past and did say if sky did not work out I would return but now I am so annoyed they will be the last one I would contact.
will try the above thanks. I am totally useless at things like this:cool: Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

Should just be a matter of going into settings on your Sky(G)Mail account, look for the import tab and follow the instructions for importing your plusnet account, chances are you will be able to receive emails from the account for a while but not send.
This might help.

At least the xxxx@sky.com email address is yours for life whether or not you remain with Sky as your ISP.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
penrhyn, tried this and it probably would have worked but because plusnet has disconnected my email as well as broadband I just get an error message, it would have worked using sky fetcher:cool: Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

Windows Mail is a client i.e. a program to collect emails from any account so plusnet or hotmail or both or others. If you have left plusnet and gone to sky then you will have a new email address with them which you can use or not. You can, as you say, keep Hotmail separate by going on to the web to get your emails from them.
Plusnet's website says
"It is possible, when requesting an account cancellation, to request a downgrade to a mail only package for £20 a year instead of full account closure. This will allow continued access to email and some member centre features. This option must be requested at the time of cancellation."
Sounds like if you did not request this your email account will be lost.0 -
giraffe69 I didnt request email service from plusnet because I did not know I could and despite a lot of correspondence they never mentioned it and being a novice it would never enter my head to ask.
so I am hoping I can still use windows mail via sky, I just need help to create it:cool: Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.
