Argos Store Card PPI..

Has anyone had any dealings with Argos about reclaiming PPI?

I've had an account with them for 10 years and have paid PPI when there has been a balance on the card.

  • I've got a copy of my credit agreement through the post and the PPI section has a Yes & No tick boxes. It appears that I've said No, and the Yes has been ticked and No scribbled out!

I didn't fill in the agreement, it was done by a sales assistant in store at the time. I've convinced myself that I didn't want the PPI and now someone after I've signed the agreement has ticked Yes on my behalf??

Would you write to them requesting a PPI refund??

    Help is much appreciated. :)

I am in the same situation as yourself...I didn't fill the form in and the ppi box was also crossed. I know I didn't cross the box because I got into a bit of a situation with regards to the ppi as the sales asst was quite pushy. I have filled in all the forms etc and Argos's response is basically I'm not getting a refund of my payments... In my response letter all they seem to mention is that when I took out the contract they was not bound to The FSA principles and that as the ombudsman has no jurisdiction over insurance taken prior to January 2005 they are unable to offer my FOS referral rights. I am at a loss as to what to do now so any advice you could give would be great....

Find out who the insurer was,put a claim into them and if they say no the FOS may have jurisdiction over them,it wouldnt hurt to give them a ring and ask

  • I haven't heard back from Argos yet but after reading your post dawnmaud I am not holding much hope!

Amersall - Do we need to find out the insurer from FOS or from Argos?

Argos should tell you this,if they cant or wont! then FOS can help.
  • I have spoken to FOS and been advised to find out who the underwriters are for the insurance. I have found out who it is and am going to fill in the FOS complaint form as they have said to do......fingers crossed...

I think the insurance underwriter was St Andrews Group (now part of Lloyds TSB), I'm sorry I'm not sure of the address.
