whats peoples pet peeves

When you are standing in line (usually in the post office) and the person behind you stands so close you can feel their breath on your neck. Then when you shuffle forward a bit, they shuffle forward. Then you shuffle forwards a bit more and they do too, and every little step you take they follow.
You're not going to get to the front of the queue any FASTER!
Oooo I feel a bit better now :rotfl:
I absolutely agree! So rude.
Plus, people that don't indicate whilst driving, it gets right on my wick.0 -
Have to agree with a lot of these, i'm obviously a grumpy git
and also :
standing behind someone in a supermarket queue who, when it's their turn, decides they've forgotten an item and goes off to get it
people who are telling you a long winded story, slowly, with lots of detours to explain the finer points of the tale 'it was on a wednesday, actually no i think it was a thursday, or maybe it was a friday, anyway it was at 3.00pm, or was that 2.30pm' - just shoot me now
i may be back, i'm sure more will come to mind0 -

Is the correct way of expressing this sentiment.
HTH
No it's not. "peoples" is meant in the plural and is of posession so it sould be "peoples'"I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -
I have really enjoyed this thread and would have many of the peeves mentioned on my list too. Nice to hear there are other people as anal as me!
Here are some of mine which I don't think anyone else has listed:
1) People who say "Pacific" instead of "specific". The Pacific is an ocean I believe.
2) People who use the word "like" constantly. Specifically, people who use the word "like" when they mean "say/said" e.g. "I was like, what are you doing?", when they actually mean "I said "What are you doing?"".
3) People who expect you to love their pets as much as they do, even when said pet puts their muddy paws in your chest when you are out for a run.
4) Cyclists who don't use lights
5) Dumbed-down television generally. In particular I hate the way documentaries do a little summary at the beginning, telling you what they are going to tell you in the documentary. I detest how they recap after every ad break too. I am not stupid and I can remember things for longer than five minutes at a stretch.
6) Ever more desperate reality programme scenarious. "Dancing on Ice in Essex at a dinner party X Factor".
7) Top Gear0 -

No...'people' already IS a plural so it is 'people's'. Same way as you'd say 'children's toys'.0 -
And how weird does the word 'people' look if you really think about it too much?!0

Having to go to work it really interupts my day0

I followed a girl around TK Maxx over the summer who had tried (and failed) to have the latin "Vis Unita Fortior" at the top of her back presumably in honour of our local football club. Instead her back proclaimed "Vis UNIT Fortior". I did wonder if she realised...
If only she'd hyphenated the bit in bold (U-NIT), that would have summed things up perfectly...
Sorry, couldn't resist the ellipsis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis). As a punctuation nerd, I love ellipses, and am particularly fond of the aposiopesis usage ... :rotfl:
Many of my pet peeves are to do with the widespread abuse and misuse of grammar, and most of the top examples have already been listed.
I also hate it when people use the wrong word - pacific instead of specific, defiantly instead of definitely, except instead of accept - although at least that can bring some amusement:
"I'll be pacific here - I'm defiantly excepting everything you say"0
