Can we assume the company hasn't supplied the goods?

A little more detail needed please.

If after 45 day time limit for opening a paypal claim then your chances are slim. You can try filing a chargeback with the card issuer, however not so simple as your transaction was with Paypal and not with the retailer.

Just open an item not received claim, and as long as you paid for goods and not services or by gift payment, then you will get a refund.

Why are you considering buying from a company you think is going to go bankrupt. That's just stupid.

As long as your purchase is applicable for cover you will be covered. Vouchers, tickets, caravans, virtual items are not covered. Check the buyer protection on paypal for specifics.

Probably best to buy from a bricks and mortar shop if you are worried!

If it's over £100 then use your credit card and pay using the companies own card payment system (if available) rather than using paypal payment processor.
  • With PayPal you've got 45 days to file an "item not received" claim from the time you pay for the goods. If PayPal cannot get confirmation that the goods have been sent by trackable means and received by you, you'll get a refund. So you should be safe if a company goes bankrupt on you.
