HSBC - 12 weeks almost up

I have 5 ppi claims with HSBC and there 12 weeks to give me a decision is nearly up.

What happens when the 12 weeks pass? Are they allowed to just tell me they are yet to make a decision and I have to just be patient?

Hi chiefcrust, hang in there and give them the full 12 weeks, 5 complaints is a lot to deal with and they are under pressure, also take into account that they all seem to send correspondence out by 2nd class post. If you hear nothing by a few days after the deadline give them a ring and find out how it's progressing. Hopefully you will hear something very close to the deadline, lots of posters say they get letters with a day to go, good luck ;)

You're welcome, I know it's difficult but patience is a virtue. If you hear nothing then start applying the pressure, BIG time ;)

We have just been going through a ppi claim with HSBC and they did not meet the 12 week deadline as they did not start work on the claim until a month after they recieved it. We repeated this to the Ombudsman and they sent a letter out to HSBC. We have just recieved there offer today and I believe it now takes a month or so to get paid out according to their phone message we kept hearing when we rang them.

Hopefully you will not have this problem and they we sort it within the time...

As said above patience is diffinately useful when it comes to this...guess they just want to hold onto the money as long as possible.

Can I ask, did it take long for them to acknowledge your claim? I sent my initial letter on the 9th january and am yet to receive any correspondence? Thanks
