have you paid off the debt?

6 years for the default to drop off your file.

i'd ask my mum for the money..!

Not quite as simple as that, if you have had several defaults with all banks be it within the last 6 years or longer they will still have the details on their system even if it's no longer on your credit rating

I had a default with Barclays 10 years ago, doesn't show on my credit report anymore but when I went back to open a new account they refused

Now with many banks owned by the same people your options become limited

One note, the OP is 20 years old, more than likely the default is less than 6 years unless the OP received it when he was 14 lol

I cant believe some of the posts on here. While I agree that the poster is unlikely to get a loan, its not impossible.

And to those that say "report to the police" - are you serious? Not only would that be an incredibly hard thing to do, the posters brother and sister (who are obviously younger) would more than likely end up in care!!

This is the second of your posts I've seen this morning where you seem keen to flame others about their posting.

What do you not understand about an Open Forum? If you don't like something, report it and refrain from flaming others.

You REALLY want to bring up the subject of flaming - with your attitude and history on the forum?

i couldnt do my mum for fraud as my little brother and sister are still living with her and they'd suffer for it.

Its nice to see your family bonds are strong. If only she felt the same way. When they're old enough you may want to speak to them about what happened to you so that it doesn't happen to them too... wouldn't want them to suffer for her habit of defrauding her kids, after all.

I'd avoid more loans if I were you - regardless of how the debt happened, it now exists and you're taking it on as your own, and the answer to "how do I fix my debt problem" is not "more debt". That would be like throwing a bucket of water over a drowning person, and is likely to be very expensive for you if its possible at all.

Firstly, make sure this can't happen again again - I realise you probably have done this already, but still it bears repeating just in case. Secondly, even if you choose not to post it here, you might find if you do a SOA (statement of affairs, as described in the 'debt free wannabe' board here) that you can start looking at a strategy for managing your debt without taking any more on.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything
