cost of gass and electric in a 1bed flat

I am planning on moving in march into my own flat and want to make sure I can afford by working out my bills before I move. I have already worked out all other bills for information off other people but i dont know anyone who lives in a 1 bed flat.

I was hoping people could tell me how much they pay for their gas and electric in a 1 bed flat?

Thankyou

Electric only - not me though mate of mine on same street in a tiny 1st floor 1 bed flat 17 year old building - E7 heating and hot water £40 a month. Was paying £60 a month with the original local electricity supplier until I advised him to switch and time heating and hot water.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Totally depends how you heat and hot water the flat-gives us more details of the property. Not all flats have a gas supply, and electric heating is about 3 times more expensive per kWh.

For heating (assuming gas) it will also depend on where you are in the country, how well insulated the flat is, at what temperature you heat it up to and how many hours you run the heating...

For electricity, it will depend on how many gizmos you've got, energy saving light bulbs or not, how often you run the washing-machine, dryer etc and whether you turn everything off when not needed.

So I'm afraid your question is a little bit "how long is a piece of string?"

  • Great timing! I've just submitted my quarterly meter readings for our 1-bed basement flat. Gas central heating and hot water, electric cooker.

    Electricity (Oct '11-Jan '12) = £52
    Gas (Oct '11-Jan '12) = £77

This could probably be cheaper if we paid by direct debit with a different provider, but after previous issues with NPower we switched to Ecibo who charge the same no matter what your payment method.

    Hope this helps!
