Peacocks.... help please!?

Options
Hi lovely MSE peeps,:A
It has been a bad day today.
Went into Peacocks and bought myself a few bits including a pyjama top with a sale sticker stating it was £3. Went through the till and paid and left the shop. I was about 100 yards from the shop when I realised that the receipt stated I had been charged £7.20 for the top, so I went back in (only about 3 minutes had gone buy since I purchased it) and asked for the £4.20 overcharge to be refunded to me. The woman behind the till was less than helpful and went with the top to find a manager. She came back and the ticket on the top'd had part of the sale tag removed and the £3 stcker was not legible. She stated that she could not see that the price had been £3 and refused to give me any money back. I showeed them that there were several sale tags and the one underneath said £6 and explained that I would not have purchased it at the higher price and wanted the top and a partial refund or would give the top back for a full refund. That was refused as well with her only offering an exchange. I pointed out that their policy in administration stated that I could still claim my statutory rights as a consumer.... we were going no where. She stated I could write to the Joint Administrators, but I think this should have been dealt with better in store as it was an overcharge rather than me changing my mind. Can anyone help or give some advice? The whole thing reduced me to tears. I realise Peacocks staff are going through a tough time, but I was also made redundant this month.

While £4.20 may be a lot of money to you at the moment, it's not an amount of money to get yourself upset about (although, I expect you were upset about the situation more than the money).

It might be best if you just put it down to experience, annoying though it is.

The time to dispute the price was at the till.
