Others seem interested enough to post so that makes your criticism pointless instead.jacques_chirac wrote: »Dragging up such an old thread is pointless, if the OP's situation has not been solved by now your little rant was certainly not going to magically cure things.
I don't see any shouting?
Oh, and go book an eye test.0 -
can someone please tell me, who is Andy? and what are his AE's? I keep seeing references in threads and it's very confusing
Andy is a lad, or perhaps a lass, who appears periodically with various Alter Egos. Long ago (a couple of years or so
), he appeared as AndyandFlo, and was forever inciting arguments, being rude to other posters, etc and was reported.
One day a post appeared from one of his offspring who claimed Andy had killed himself. After a period of mourning, a new AE appeared, but some of our shrewd community recognised Andy.
I can't remember all the AEs, but Rotoguys, who posted on page 1 of this thread, lasted quite a while, and OldBoy64, posting on page 2, is new, but has incredible similarities.
In another AE, he claimed to be an elderly drummer, who wanted to go on the road again, and was enquiring about benefits, hence the references, eg "Hi Andy, how's the drumming going?".
He's claimed to have a brother who was a convicted murderer, and, whatever the thread, there is always "a family member" of his, that has had a similar experience.
It's quite possible that the OP, BenefitQuery is also Andy, cos he seems to like chatting with himself.

Thanks - most bizarre, why do people do this stuff?Love many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe.
“Don’t have children if you can’t afford them” is the “Let them eat cake” of the 21st century. It doesn’t matter how children got here, they need and deserve to be fed.0 -
The rules are really complex but I do believe that the onus is on the DWP to prove intentionality, that a claimant has done it deliberately in order to maximise their benefit entitlements, such as a record of them being told or having enquired about capital thresholds, for example.
I have heard of cases which have gone to a legal appeal where the court judge has overuled the DWP. The case I recall (whose link I can't find) concerned someone of mature age who used their redundancy money to pay down or pay off their mortgage. The judge felt that it was a sensible thing to do as they approached retirement and overuled the deprivation of capital ruling by the DWP.
Some people actually do make changes to their capital completely oblivious to the rules - for example, they've never claimed benefits before so how would they know?
Hi, I'd just like to point out the the DWP don't deal with council tax benefit (nor housing benefit). Calling or visiting them about this situation will only waste your money and time. You need to speak to your council.0 -

Shouting at other members is, though.
Did I say it was against the rules?
No, I didn't.
(Maybe it's you who should go book an eye test).
And please point me to the specific piece of MSE guidelines that refers to 'shouting'.
The 'shouting' in red letters was to make people aware that they would have been wasting their time giving advice on a thread that is over 18 months old.Kernel_Sanders wrote: »Others seem interested enough to post so that makes your criticism pointless instead.
Oh, and go book an eye test.
I thought the idea of MSE (at least on the Benefit board) was for people in need of advice to ask questions and for posters who may be able to help to reply to them.
I post on quite a few forums and I (and many other posters) are not happy if they waste their time responding to an old thread.
You obviously haven't read the recent posts.
Most of them are poking fun at another poster with numerous AEs.0 -

No idea, could be attention seeking, or he/she has no friends in Real Life, and feels that on here, they will get a reaction? It's sad, but when people are verbally attacked, it becomes something far worse.
There was a thread on Disability and Dosh, where people were writing about the dreadful incident when one man was killed by another, all because of a disabled parking bay.
Everyone was sympathetic, with the exception of Andy, can't remember his AE there, who said the man who died deserved it for parking in the wrong place!! It beggars belief that anyone would sink that low.

Or an asylum seeker convicted with a criminal record as long as your arm who can't be deported and received compensation for spending a day too long in prison and blew his compensation on charities. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0
