I thought you & some others may be interested in this, i went to a boiler breakdown the other wk, it was a 3 yr old baxi that kept locking out, i told them it was a problem with the flow (or lack of it) through the heat exchanger, he then told me that heat team (baxi's service agents) had replaced the heat exchanger, burner & spark electrode less than a year before due to the heat exchanger leaking, he paid £270 (their one off costs to fix the boiler whatever is needed) for this as it was out of warrentee, so i told him i would phone them on his behalf as it must still be under warrentee, what they told me left me speechless.

Baxi or heat team only warrentee any part they replace for 90 DAYS !!!!!!, i told them they must be joking surely the parts had to have 12 months warrentee on them, but no, what a joke !!

Does anyone have any comments ??

Sorry if I offended - the nature of the question implied that such a practice in the supply of spare parts was novel to you. Loads of companies do this.

I took comments ?? to be a "have you got any comments" question so my reply meant "no I don't have a comment but I do have a question". I'll try and express myself better in future.

no probs mate i didn't take offence, i just couldn't believe their attitude, i normally supply my own parts & then take em back to the merchants if they fail ie grunfos alpha2 pump that failed after 16 months & grunfos are gonna replace it, just so you know i didn't take offence i've thanked you twice on the cable extention/light switch thread

Oh yes you are quite right. I needed a replacement cartridge for a Brand X (forgotten the name now) thermo shower a while ago. Brand X taken over by Bristan some years ago but they still supplied the replacement under the ten year guarantee. I think its horses for courses but you are correct its the attitude that gets your back up more than anything else when people on the other end of the 'phone are reading from a damned script which they won't/can't deviate from because they haven't got a damned clue otherwise. Bit like the [STRIKE]muppets[/STRIKE] counterstaff in most Plu............. Oops :o nearly got carried away but you prolly know who I mean. :D

oh do you mean plumb centre ooops i did get carried away ;)
    yes they are useless.

i even asked the lady on the phone if the system had sludge in it when they changed the heat exchanger as i was a bit confused as to why it had leaked after less than two years, she said oh no it couldn't have any sludge in the system or our engineer wouldn't have changed it & would have just walked away, so then why is it now blocked less than a year later, the most anonying thing is that the customer is now gonna get baxi back pay another £270 for them to change it again as i couldn't even buy a new one for that amount let alone fit it.

BTW i didn't fit the boiler in the first place this was a new customer.
