Mmm,
Dilemma again,
Eating or heating,,,,
my freezer has stopped working !!!
I think its because the house is so cold that it's not turning on !!!! can that be right? I'm sure someone else posted something similar.
but the food is defrosting! (might actually stay frozen if I take it out of the freezer !!!)
Just can not afford the gas at the rate it's being used just to keep the house @ 15 deg !
I'd be better of spending 6 quid in the pub than putting it on the gas - as for 6 quid - I could stay in the pub longer than the heating would last in the house !!
Rant over sorry,

sorry but that's rubbish HC, by gum i'd be a rich woman and NOT sat on flippin MSE if that were true:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
antidepressants have there place and they do work when prescribed appropriately for the right patient!!!!
There are many reasons why they might not work-obviously other diagnoses need excluding first and also other modalities of treatmement need to be considered for example -psychological approaches or counselling for the milder forms of depression.
Sorry rant over
evening everyone, off for a shower, will be back to answer questions later:D:D:D
still not caught up on now 4 days of posts:(:(:(:( behind
I fully agree with you Celebrate. I had PND after my first child. the drugs I went on were mild. I had no problems with them other than mild nausea for the first week. The wean off period for the ones I was on was up to 2 weeks (I was able to come off them completely after a week due to being on a very low dose).
My doctor made it clear that if I experienced side affects, they would need to be changed to a different type as not everyone is suited to the same one (bit like the pill really).
If you are feeling crap and are getting no enjoyment out of life then something is wrong. If the bad times outweigh the good times, something is wrong. I don't think people should struggle through life this way.
Drugs are not the only fix for depression. However, they can help. I found it helpful to do a lot of research into ways of preventing depression and alleviat the symptoms. I found the things that worked for me best were: lots of water to flush the toxins out of my body (more energy and a more positive feeling at the start of the day), small amounts of food regularly throughout the day, plenty of sleep/rest, and drugs for a short time (6 months).
Before I went on the drugs I was a mess and every little set back seemed such a huge issue.
After the drugs I am very much more in tune with my emotions, feelings and am able to identify low points and raise myself out of them pretty quickly.
It has been 5 years since I have been on the drugs and I have never needed them other than that one time.
I don't agree with all of what HC has said, at the end of the day if you are not coping, why should you have to live a miserable life, especially if you have struggled to cope with depression for some period of time. I do, however, agree with the point he has made about research. Do understand what it is your doctor is giving you (I used google before agreeing to take the drugs the doctor offered me). You should also look into the side affects, wean off period and risks of taking what your doctor suggests.
I found my counselling sessions a joke. I finally refused to go to any more when the counsellor suggested that the solution to my depression would be to move closer to my MIL. Oh right, that makes sense, sell my house, move away from an area that I had lived in for 10 years and make OH increase his travel time to work by 2 hours just to be close to family who may be able to help.
Sorry this post is so long but I just wanted to highlight some of my experience in the hope that it may be of use to anyone who is currently suffering from depression.
Just remember, everyone is different, you need to find the solution that works for you. I believe there is no 'one size fits all' when it comes to overcoming depression.Avatar courtesey of HC :beer:0 -

I forgot how much I hate the wait (was 20 mins early and 20 mins delay). I've been asked to take therapy next week and anti-depressants for a couple weeks to see how I go.
I had counseling last year, which I didn't like tbh, maybe it was just the counselor I had. He just made me more upset and down with myself. Which I assumed wasn't the idea!
I don't know what to think at the moment tbhI've never taken anti-depressants before and wonder how they will work. (yeah I know they're meant to help) but how will they effect me etc. if that makes any sense.
:TGlad to see you've sought some professional help:) This is the first big step in learning how to cope. As one of a few on here that have probably been to hell and back the important thing to know is that there is a way back with the right help and support.
We are all different, have different problems and will react differently to various drugs so any one persons experience may not be relevant to you so don't be put off. Keep posting as it's good to share and know that there is moral support here.:)Awaiting a new sig0 -

Sorry to hear this grumpyalthough food should stay frozen for about 24 hours even if freezer isn't working as long as the door isn't opened.
