  • Well I've just finished answering DSs questions for the biography, just up to him to pad it out and print it tomorrow morning. Just have to make sure I don't loose his memory stick with all my answers on it :)

Interesting post from ex-Tesco Price Integrity staff on the penny finds thread:

    Howdy all,

I had the unfortunate pleasure of working on farm that is our beloved and much discussed supermarket for many years in none other than it's Price Integrity department. The tricks that HQ pull in terms of pricing boggles the mind and drives the guys who work at putting all the price tickets out right up the wall!

Now to the point: 1p bargains, in theory shouldn't exist, because HQ says that anything that's reduced to a penny is classed as "Clear as you go" stock and shouldn't be sold to the general public. Instead, what the store is supposed to do is remove all affected goods from sale, add up how many they have left and claim for store credit from HQ. Nice little number. So what happens with the stuff? Well, if the store manager is an !!!!, then it all ends up in the compactor (I've seen this happen and it sickens me), or it gets given to the store social club as raffle prizes (ok, I understand that) or it simply gets given to staff (after all, the store has claimed its money back on it, right?).

Mostly, 1p bargains will be found after major events, notably, Valentines Day, Pancake Day, Easter, Passover, Summer gardening, Back to School, Halloween, Diwali, Eid, Channukah, Christmas, Hogmanay, New Year, Burns' Night.

Also, as someone else mentioned above, look out for Clipstrips. These are often found dangling off the shelves, getting in your way and obstructing the item that you're looking for. The price tickets on these are hardly ever checked and often than not, are simply forgotten about. In fact, there are boxes of them lurking in a corner of every warehouse of every store our "beloved" supermarket.

Be warned with what's left of Christmas stock, though. If your local store hasn't taken it off the shelves, they will soon to make way for Easter eggs (like they haven't done that already) and Passover.

Good luck, forumites! Godspeed and never be afraid to give the "bully" a piece of your mind, and when they question you or tell you that you can't have it, remind them that "Every Little Helps!"

Evening guys - well, what a day I have had :(:( and this is the first chance I've had to post

All ok with Mam today BUT Mr 3Dogs rang me this late this morning to say he'd been awake all night with pain in lower abdomen and feverish too. He'd got the pain over the weekend, on the right side, and thought he'd pulled a muscle walking the dogs in the deep snow as well as having to lift Bess up when she got 'snow-bound' and carry her part way, especially as it seemed to be from side to side yesterday, but it was all on the right side last night

I told him what to do, so he rang the kennels and they came and picked up the dogs and then rang 999 at 2.15'ish. Next I heard was from my disabled nieghbour/friend, as I'd told him to get ambulance guys to leave keys with her, that she had the keys and Mr 3Dogs just gone off in ambulance. Then a text from him at 3.15 to say he'd been taken to Kings Lynn hospital and would let me have further details later

i have spend tonight trying to get info from A & E but all they would tell me was that he was waiting to be admitted to surgical ward, for exploration op. Mr 3Dogs later text me to say it was suspected appendicitis and waiting to be taken down to theatre, but later they said that op was scheduled for 10 tomorrow unless pain gets worse during night

I have changed my tickets for going back from Thursday to tomorrow Wednesday, and a friend is going to pick me up from the station as it is a 25/30 minute drive home. Then I can get up to the hospital to see him and find out what's going on and how he is

Oh dear, it doesn't rain, it pours comes to mind. Just after he'd just about got over his sciatica too :(:(

Will do a little catching up now as I am all sorted for the morning

Ohh dear what a day, sending big cwtches and get well soon wishes to you and Mr 3 dogs xxxx

    Missed you all today!

Had a crazy busy day, loads of appointments (am now being referred straight to hospital for a jaw problem), visiting my big bro (cemetery) tip runs and putting up a wooden kitchen. Have no presents wrapped and it is now officially my little girls birthday...I am never ever this disorganised :(

Will have to catch up at some point tomorrow too tired now and lots to do.

Anyway hope everyone is ok and if not sending HUGE HUGS! Night all.

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

Decided to chance it, was in luck as express had a few £3 SEL, one on the Mars & one on the Maltesers. Rest had been changed.

Refused a DTD so going back when the manager is in store tomorrow.

    Thanks OP!
