Just had a bit of good news.
I was medically retired from the NHS two years ago but was then turned down flat for my ill health pension.
Well to cut a long story short, I've at last been awarded it at the higher rate as they have finally agreed that what I have (Bilateral Menieres Disease) is incurable and it's very unlikely I'll ever be well enough to have a "proper" job again.

So I have had the lump sum and the backdated pension payments paid into my account today.....and it's for more than I expected....not enough to be life changing, but enough to buy myself to a new (ish) car (not a Merc or BMW though!!)

I've got a fab GP who has supported me in appealing their decision and I'm just wondering if it's OK to send her a little something as a token of appreciation....not money...but something else.
Celebrate can you let me know if this is allowed?

    Excellent news, well done.:j:j

Drinks are on Purdita tonight folks!:beer:

I guess it depends on the person. My friend used to give his doctor a litre of Glenlivet, or was it Glenmorangie? every christmas as a thank you and the Dr accepted it no problem.

    I have 4 days worth of newspapers that I havent read yet:eek: & it's all MSE's fault:rotfl:
I always used to get through loads of novels and would be eagerly waiting for my favourite authors to release their next book, these days I cant even manage the newspapers. I'm far too busy reading back on here!!

Same here, I've got the last two Martina Cole books ready to read, Ds always buys them for my birthday so thats what I'll be reading:)
Hope it goes ok for you!

Thank you, had them before and injections don't bother me but these do hurt a bit;) Big & brave till I get in there!

Happy why were you buying cadburys wishes???

And guess what DS got offered St Andrews today:T:T:TGood job he's not taking it otherwise I'd be coming that bit closer to you and then you'd be stuffed;) I'd be putting those special child swearing filters on your lappie and dragging you round T's.
That means he got offers from all 5 unis, proud oh yes;) But if he did fail his step exam for Cambridge he's going to take Durham, now that's closer to you than London so when I go for visits I could also visit my cyber son:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I was in the MSE jail at the time.:rotfl:

He really should take St Andrews as it's one of the best universities. Plus don't students in Scotland do an extra year on their courses than students in England? something to do with it being a much better qualification at the end of it. Or is that medical students only? *confused*

Durham to Aberdeen is still a fair old skelp of a distance. You'd be at least 3 hours to Dundee and another hour to Aberdeen. Or 2 hours 34 minutes total if you drive like me.:eek:

Remember if they don't open up during cooking discard them as they are dead and really not nice to eat.
