Twas delightful!! Most people from the village go to Hall Tower Hill, but its just too steep for me:( Perhaps when the boys are a bit bigger!! (Like 40yo)!!:rotfl: I remember one year we were sent home at lunchtime from school to go fetch our sledges and the teachers took us on there sledging, one boy fractured his collar bone, luckily it was one of the teachers sons. I really appreciate now how much the teachers did for us back then.
Anyway, cant find any sledging ones but heres a clip of one of the boys from the village unsuccessfully riding his bmx down Hall Tower Hill

Wow that's steep, I don't blame you! And what great teachers you must have had. I can remember Mum and Dad taking us sledging once on the South Common in Lincoln as kids, happy memories for a life time, so it's great if current kids are getting some sledging memories.
    Hope is not a strategy.

I have just been to the beach and picked loads of Mussels... there are tons there...

Does anyone know what Im suppoed to do with them now??

Ive read somewhere that if you leave them over night in a bowl with some oats they'll plump out by morning, is this true??

I shall be steaming them (I think) with some wine, onion and garlic..

But should we eat them tonight or leave them in water until tomorrow??

Just had a bit of good news.
I was medically retired from the NHS two years ago but was then turned down flat for my ill health pension.
Well to cut a long story short, I've at last been awarded it at the higher rate as they have finally agreed that what I have (Bilateral Menieres Disease) is incurable and it's very unlikely I'll ever be well enough to have a "proper" job again.

So I have had the lump sum and the backdated pension payments paid into my account today.....and it's for more than I expected....not enough to be life changing, but enough to buy myself to a new (ish) car (not a Merc or BMW though!!)

I've got a fab GP who has supported me in appealing their decision and I'm just wondering if it's OK to send her a little something as a token of appreciation....not money...but something else.
Celebrate can you let me know if this is allowed?

Wow that's fab Purdita, I'm really pleased for you - just goes to show it's worth persisting if you feel you have a case. I'd have thought a nice bottle of wine and a thank you note would be ok, and very much appreciated.
    Hope is not a strategy.
  • Great news purdita and well done on stomping your feet and not accepting the first decision. :)

Talking of coupons before.........I've never had a giftcard so can someone tell me does it actually say giftcard on your receipt when you spend it or does it just say coupon?

The oats are for the Mussels to eat (I think) this cleans them out inside.
I'd leave them overnight them steam them. hth

If you pay with a gift card then it is recorded as gift card, but sometimes CS sends a money card in which case it is recorded as money card on the receipt. I have taken an item back for a refund after paying with a money card and have received cash back rather than another money card...guess it depends on the assistant.

Afternoon everyone. For once I've caught up before bed time lol. Didn't venture out yesterday and so far not been out today.

My Mr T is rubbish, never seem to have glitches in there but B*r* && Edm*nd* is better.

Just had my lunch, home made bread roll and a tin of FREE Mushroom soup, yummy
