    I thought the same Lutzi, & dashed over to our local but it was lousy, to be fair it was lousy the night before as well but I was suprised to today. Lost the back end, in the snow, when I was pulling out on to main road aswell, so drove home at 30mph! Im a wimp!!

    Better to be a wimp than stuck in a ditch! :)

    We've had a fair amount, it's just said on the news that they've measured 16cm at our local weather station (Ch F). The village is looking very pretty in the snow. We were supposed to be going out to eat last night but decided discretion was the better part of valour, so I took chicken in stilton, roast potatoes and vegetables out of the freezer and the family devoured that. It was very nice sitting warm and cosy by candlelight watching the snow fall, knowing we had plenty of food, drink, water, candles and firewood in the house, and so could cope for a while whatever happened. Have to get DD back to Uni 20 miles away today, but it shouldn't be too bad on the main roads.
    Hope is not a strategy.

    Here in east surrey there is about 6 inches of snow I am not going to venture out today but have a relaxing day at home . Last night I was persuaded to part with some of my hard earned cash to take the wife daughter and grand child on a holiday. to Thailand and then on to Singapore to see if it has changed much since I was there in the army in the 60s If you have to go out in the snow today becareful

    :eek::eek::eek::eek: and :eek::eek::eek: some more!!!

    I can't believe the gall of her!
    For regular updates on deals in high street shops, visit hotukd.eals.com and moneysavingexpert.com. Check for deals as often as you can - over breakfast, during your lunchhour, in the evenings when you ought to be relaxing.

    And who provides all the glitches and deals that she uses? Other people, that's who!!
    It was easy to see that she is one of the lurkers who read what we post and use for themselves, never sharing with us their deals!:mad: She and her son signed up to answer back to the slating she got here when she was first on tv, and it was plain that she had never signed up before. Take, but not share! Grr. Don't these spongers realise that the site would be nothing if people didn't share!

    *Steps down from soapbox, anyone else want a shot?*

    Agreed, and more. She just doesn't have the sense to keep her mouth shut, and seems to be a real attention seeker. She's also the one who doesn't let her teenage boys shower unless they've got free solar hot water available - yeeeuk! A seriously irritating individual, and I wouldn't want her as my midwife!

    *Next?* :rotfl:

    BMW's, in fact any rear wheel drive car are useless in the snow and ice.

    Not if they've got winter tyres on they aren't, Happy. I refer you to this letter published in the Sunday Times motoring section last winter, written by someone *ahem* with experience in this area.

    ..."My husband, a (foreign) citizen resident in the UK, has for years had to put up with blank looks whenever he has taken his car in to have its winter tyres put on. This winter, as his BMW 7 series has cruised up and down icy hills littered with abandoned vehicles, he has allowed himself the odd moment of quiet satisfaction".

    Also of course a lot comes down to experience, and driving, as you say, appropriately - years ago I used to have a 3 series and coped with that on really icy rural roads, but a taxi driver who once brought me home from our local metropolis hadn't a clue once he got out of the city and was all over the road.

    When we decided not to go out last night, my husband actually said, it's not our car I'm worried about, it's the idiot coming in the other direction. He must be getting sensible in his old age! :rotfl:
