No tax & insurance
Stupidly i left these to expire on a vehicle i had sitting on the road , police chapped the door the door and told me i'd be reported .
got my court date in but it says to fill in and return if i plead guilty (which i will )
Do i still need to go to court then ? Or will it be dealt with out of court?
What will be the punishment?
fine & points i assume ?
i already have 3 points so i'm a bit worried it might take me over the 12 point mark.

Expect 6 points for the no insurance and a fine for both.0

You won't get any points for the tax, but no insurance will probably be 6 points (although it can be as high as 8), and there will be a fine for each offence.

Sil was done for this @ Christmas. No points for either offence (as not driving) and total fine for both offences was £80.

The wording of section 143 of the Road Traffic Act is that "a person must not use a motor vehicle on a road". Have you actually been summonsed for any offences relating to no insurance? If so, what offences and what act and section is on the summons?"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

it's down as 144a, 144A.Offence of keeping vehicle which does not meet insurance requirements
i wasn't been driven , just sitting in the street .0 -
do i still need to go to court on said date when i send it back pleading guilty though ?
i've never been in trouble in my life, so i've no idea how the courts work.0 -

That makes it a bit clearer. It looks like you have fallen foul of the continuous insurance requirement (but I stand to be corrected), where you either insure the vehicle or declare it SORN (for which it has to be kept off a public road). I'm not sure of the penalties for this but I'm sure someone will be able to provide that information."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

If you are pleading guilty in writing, then no. Make sure you fill out the form detailing your means though."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
