tax credits as an income?

when applying for new credit such as a loan or mortgage will they take into consideration tax credits as an income or household income? can anyone help? thankyou

  • But those Tax Credits are to maintain an average level of living? what would happen if you had to spend them on loan repayments in the future?

    Or you don;t actually need the Tax Credit Income?

  • I doubt it as entitlement to benefit can change at any time. The rules are always being changed. It's also likely to make you look like a bad risk.

    Perhaps you could ask on the housing board as there was a thread on that recently. From memory, I believe that some mortgage lenders did used to include certain benefits, including TCs, but that is now much less common. Ask over there if you can't find the thread.

    I think it depends on the lender. When I first took a mortgage, they were taken into account, but three years later, when I separated from my partner and applied on my own, the new lender wouldn't consider them. That was a few years back though.
