hi i was earning £200 for 25 hours after tax but now my hours have been cut and will be earing £158 for 16 hours as of next week im just about to claim council tax benefit for the first time and im not sure what to put my earnings down as because they want 5 weeks wages slips these wage slips will show the higher amount so should i average it out from april to april or put new or old figures my tax credits wont change till april to reflect the new wages and will stay at £125 a week for this year x

Ask the authority for a certificate of earnings form and get your employer to complete it and confirm the date your reduced hours started. Then fetch in the first 5 weeks' reduced payslips as you get them, though they can do an interim assessment based on the certificate.
