wedding venue problems

My Partners brother is getting married soon, and the venue he is using has started mucking him around. his total cost for the venue was around £2500 (reception, buffett etc).
He has already paid £2100 of it, but now the venue have said to him 5 or 6 times that the cost has gone up, then gone up again. can they do this? if not, what should he do?

Cheers
dave

does he have an estimate or a quotation? Does he have a contract? Does he have insurance?

It is hard to say without any further details. Did he have anything in writing from them in the first place? What are their terms and conditions? (T&C's may be posted on the venue's website, if they have one.)

What specifically are their reasons for upping the price? Is it due to changes that have been agreed with the bridal party (changes in menu, decorations, number of people etc etc ) or that are permitted according to their contract or T&C's?

Would they give him a full refund at this point? Does he have a choice at this point or is he pretty much stuck?

My advice would be to gather all the documents/previous info/records, and go talk to the venue manager in person.
Does he have someone who is good at negotiating, who could come with him to discuss this in person?

What does his initial contract say?

What are the reasons for them wanting more money? How much has it gone up?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
