Santander Premier to Preferred account?

Hi all, hope you are well.
Has anyone ever had any issues with trying the above? I'm interesting in switching accounts as the agreed overdraft charges for the premier are set to double to £20 whilst the preferred will remain at the fee I pay now, £10.
The website offers me the main option of upgrading to two paid 'special' accounts but offers the preferred as an option as well. Just wondering what people's thoughts were. Do you think they'll refuse me due to the overdraft fees?

Do you have an account outside of Santander?
If so, then set up 2 "fake" standing orders on that account to pay your mother/brother/father/etc. Just £1 each SO will do...
...clear your cookies, go through Quidco/TopCashBack (whichever you prefer) and apply for the preferred account...
...when it comes to entering your switching details, enter them for the other account...
...cycle £1k through your new preferred current account each month...
...pick up your £100 for switching & your cashback through the cashback site which will both be extras on what you'll get if you just upgrade.0 -
Interesting.....! I wouldn't have thought that would have worked but thanks!0

What do you mean by "Premier"?
Do you mean the old Alliance and Leicester Premier Account with the free european travel insurance?
You can change from the Premier to the Preferred without changing your card, account number etc.
Its called an account transfer and can be done either in a branch in 5 minutes or on the telephone.
You will lose the insurance and won't be able to go back.0 -
True, you will be able to transfer it, which would be easier.
Depends if you can be bothered to put in a bit of extra work for the extra gains. The end result will be the same, it's just whether you want £100+ or not for it.0 -

Yeah, but you'll get 1% interest instead of 5%. No Santander staff seems to know this...0
