Could he be getting confused about the 'cheap electricity' hours with Economy 7? These are normally something like midnight to 7:00 am not the 7pm to midnight you mention above.
For your interest we're on Economy 7 and by running our dishwasher and washing m/c at night with some tumble drying we achieve about 36% night usage and show an annual saving of around £50 over standard rates. Our cheap hours are 10:30 pm to 12:30am then 2:00 am to 7:00.0 -
He phoned up saying he had a complaint logged, someone got on it, he is now back on the normal tarriff and will be refunded the overcharge on his next bill
