Advice needed - PPI company problem

I used a PPI company some time ago for 2 claims, at that time I thought I didn't have time to do this myself so passed it on to them, they were successful with 1 and I paid them £300 out of my £1000 payoout. The second one was with First Plus and when I reang to ask for my account number they asked if I wanted to do a personal PPI claim so I said yes. Five months later, having heard nothing from the PPI company, even when I coontacted them they never got back to me I received a letter from First Plus addressed to me personally regarding my personal claim, with the transcript of my conversation saying I had agreed with everything and did not have a claim. I again tried to contact the PPI company but again no one returned my call and I heard nothing. Last week I got a letter from first Plus saying they had reconsidered and were going to pay me my PPI of £1800, I should sign the agreement accepting this and send it back. I did this and then yesterday I got a letter from the PPI company saying 'we have won your claim' do not deal with first Plus directly as you are still liable for our 30% fee. They sent me the photocopied letter I had received the previous week telling me to sign and send to them. Do I have to pay them? It seems in hindsight that these companies do nothing and in this instance it was my phone call that was acted upon by First Plus. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if its in the contract, then yes, I would say you would have to pay them...but you are right, in general, these companies dont really do that much for their money. But there is a market for it!!!! Unfortunately.
