English DVD English laptop -- DVD won't play - help!

Hello all.... I have a Dell laptop 2 yrs old that was built for me in England, and I have just purchased in England the English series "Sherlock".
I have brought both with me to Cyprus. But it refuses to play, saying it is the wrong region, that my PC is set to Reg 1 and I need 2 or 4.
So I went to my settings and it refuses to change from 1 to anything, saying I have zero changes remaining.
Is there anything I can do while out here to put this right?
