Current set up is a netbook which has a 250GB hard drive on which is approx. 150GB of music. The netbook will also hold about 20GB of films (usually .avi rips of DVDs I own
) at any one time. I keep this music backed up onto an external 320GB hard drive which also holds about 20GB of photos.
I watch films by wirelessly streaming to the xbox from the netbook. On a different television, I will ocassionaly watch films from a USB stick and a cheap media player adapter.
I would like networked hard drive (I'm sure 1TB would be sufficient) which can be accessed by my netbook and wife's laptpop (which hold her own iTunes library of about 10GB). Can the 1TB be split to, say 500GB each so wife and I can each have our own (password-protected) halves (for media, docs, etc.)? And can ITunes be split accordingly (i.e. my netbook's iTunes library is different to wifes)? Will the NAS be able to stream films direct to xbox without the need for any pc's to be left powered on?
(By the way, I take many photos on my iPhone which I automatically upload to Picasa web albums (on the assumption that they're safer there). I am also using iTunes match so I've got access to all my music on my phone which I stream via bluetooth to powered speakers in the home.)
