Fed up of log roll edging like look of metal but can't find cheaply

I have a path that runs all around my garden, it's log rolled edged both sides, so masses of the stuff. It's getting quite old now, lots of it has rotted and broken off and looks really unsightly.

I saw at a garden show years ago metal edging, it was really expensive, I think it may have been everedge.

I would love a modern shiny stainless steel edge to bring it up to date, but it looks like I will have to win the lottery first from prices I have found googling!

Does anyone have this kind of edging? Or know of a cheaper way to do it.

Many thanks

  • I have had mine for best part of 4 years and is as good as new slight bit of green algae but no rot. I did coat mine with 3 coats of creosote substitute and have it just so it sits on the ground with metal spikes made be metapost. I like them myself cheap way to show a path along a garden. I am going to take them out this year and recoat them to brighten them up as it will take me a few weeks doing the whole lot, taking them out, blasting them with power washer and drying then couple of coats

When I had an allotment, I would spade it straight once a season and keep it trim with the strimmer after that.
  • Some of this log roll is 15 years old, I've replaced parts over the years. The garden is boarder - log roll - pea shingle - log roll then another boarder then lawn. I reckon I 've got well over 100 metres of the stuff.
