Self-Employed but Work for someone...

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help?

I am self-employed but work for someone. I have to work for them set days and set times and cannot just come and go as I please.

For example I have to fill out holiday forms for my "employer" but do not get paid holiday.

I sort my own taxes etc.. and I just dont know what im entitled to.

I was trying to get a tax rebate on uniform but I was bombarded with questions about pay slips and company name etc..Am I still entitled to this being "self employed" I wear a uniform that can only be worn to work.

This is such a confusing situation I feel my bosses are the only ones who benefit from this situation.

Technically im self employed but if my hours and holiday are decided for me am I employed??

    Hi

Firstly what is the work that you do if you don't mind me asking.

Do you have any type of contract with the people that you do work for.

Do you invoice the people that you do work for and provide them with receipts i.e are you a subcontractor.

Is this type of arrangement typical in your line of work.

It's not up to you or the client/employer to dictate self employment, it's up to both parties to fulfill the terms of what the HMRC considers self employment. You are one or the other. This guide will help you proceed.
