Company says it has no papers

Hi Martin ,
I contacted santander ( account originally with alliance & leicester) about my morgage account to find out if i"d paid a PPI.I sent them details of the morgage address plus the names and D.O.B for myself and my wife as we were both on the morgage and told them I no longer had any paper work .Santander wrote back saying they are unable to locate my details and require the morgage account number ,
I no longer have this ,what can I do ????

Ignoring the fact that MPPI has lower success rates anyway than loan and credit card and you need stronger complaint reasons to succeed, if you cant show where it was wrong they cant show if it was wrong then there is nothing you can do about it.
The other issue is that if you bought via a mortgage adviser then the lender has no responsibility for it and wouldnt have records on it.
