Morning, another damp morning here but as it wasn't actually raining managed to drag the dog around the short walk route this am - he still gave me that sideways "how could you" look and then tried to kill the towel when I dried his undercarriage and paws off! If looks could kill I would be dog meat now!

    Today I will or have:
Made sandwich for work with last of roast chicken dinner and made sure DH has ham for his sandwiches
    Checked bank a/c
Checked credit cards (last lot of fuel purchased yesterday missed the statement hooray)
Update Feb spreadsheet and plan move of money over to start payment of Santander debt back ASAP
Completed new bank account docs to change current account (£125 cash back I hope and bye bye Santander you useless bunch of cretins)
Check out phone plan and see if can reduce , poss look at PAYG instead as phone quite new
    Charge phone at work
Work out expenses to claim for 2 days travel (unexpected income and need to get forms in for prompt payment as close to end of month)
Check out which own brand decongestant is cheapest and from a supermarket / shop I can get to without a million mile trek as current cold + flying = ouch (I broke a cheek bone years ago so sinuses are very sensitive and I don't like taking paracetamol unless I have the shivers too)
Ensure work calendar and phone calendar are synchronised (they aren't and it is messing up my planning when I don't realise I am in London for an afternoon and get free lunch!)
Bathroom cleaning scheduled for today so all towels on cold short wash using solar power (or not given the cloud cover) without fabric conditioner so will be ironed for fluffiness
Parental types staying tonight on way home from hols - bless they brought their own towels and have left bedding from their going out stay so only 1 load of washing as a result.

Sadly not a planned spend day, chin up all - we will get there!

    Morning all!

Thanks to DNMS for starting the thread!

Payday today, thankfully, we last got paid on 16th December so it's been a veeeery long slog. This month has been more expensive as well with the tail ends of Christmas, having to pay some of my OU fees (getting a grant but not til after the course has started) and a bit of work travel which I won't get back til Feb - my budgeting plans and saving plans have took a hit! But never mind, eh, onwards and upwards!

    Today I will/have:
    • Check banks
    • Check CCs - pay one off as per usual and pay chunk off other
    • Move money to various pots
    • Cleared out bank to 0 into savings before processing this month's wages - only £11 but every little helps!
    • Got petty cash from work - have paid it off my CC already so will try and go through the month using only this petty cash and nothing out of the bank - hah, not likely but nice to dream!
    • Get payslip to see if I was owed any travel this month - think it might be a glitch and I'll get it next week hopefully!
    • update MS money
    • LSD - theme day at work so will buy lunch, and postage needed
    • Post Ebay item
    • Send invoice to Ebay purchaser - bought the item on Sunday then tried to haggle postage costs - I was charging exactly what the Post Office will charge me so not happy! Hasn't paid yet, grr.
    • Check Ebay items on sale currently
    • Check TCB - do I cash out the 32p ready or wait for a bit more to be ready?!
    • Look into Citibank US$ account for hols
    • Update diary with OU stuff - really need to do this!
    • Log all food in calorie tracker
    • Read more of organisation book on Kindle
    • Drive economically!
    Think that's it... Phew!

Just want to share a little 'win' with you all too - yesterday I got caught up in Grabbit excitement and bought the 7 day kit of Celebrity Slim from Amazon for £4.99 - then cancelled it. I'm slowly but steadily losing weight by just eating healthily, I don't need to spend a fiver on meal replacements!

Also - has anyone got a twist board - saw the Davina one in Argos and tempted to get it... Can anyone recommend or otherwise??!!

Hope you all have lovely days, halfway through the week!

    Hi guys :hello:

Today is my payday but all of it is allocated and I'm feeling a bit :( Given that I was already in my overdraft I'm going to be back in it when my bills come out, and that's not even considering day-to-day spending, which I'll obviously need to keep to a min… Hoping to pay about £200 off my overdraft this month and about £150 off my credit card (but haven't quite worked out how much of that will go towards the interest…)

I've been reviewing my spending diary. Last week I spent:
    £10.70 - weekly travel
£7.49 - wine and pizza when friend visited
£1.65 - croissant in the train station when I didn't get up in time for brekkie :naughty:

I'm going to find it hard to continue with this because I've got a couple of biggish spends this month - £170 gone in a flash with a new passport and paying for accommodation for another friend's hen do…

Ho hum, it is what it is - my own fault for buying a house after booking a holiday and arranging to go away for the weekend… :naughty:

I think I'll try to cut down/out my weekly travel card - an hour's walk a day wouldn't do me any harm and soon I can start cycling it.

Right, sorry for that bit of a brain dump… I'll get on with my small things:
    • - Getting our Christmas tree picked up for recycling - free council scheme - just had to call to arrange
    • - Bought a new cycle helmet - pretty cheap and had almost all five star reviews on @mazon - figured it's a good 'un and if I cycle to work for 2 weeks I'll more than make up the price of it :D - bought it in grey because it was cheaper than black - £1.50 saved :p
    • - Meeting friends for a payday lunch :o - £5 for main course and vino - shouldn't really but using voucher
    • - Working on my CV - deadline for applications is Tuesday so I've got the weekend to perfect it (and speak to my boss)
    • - Cleaning around the house - don't want to leave everything until the weekend - sort bedroom
    • - Emailed SIL, not call

    Afternoon all!!

Was a bit rushed to gt on this morning. I try to get up 10 mins earlier than the kids so i can have a tea and post on here but never happens! Either i oversleep or they hear me and get up the same time!

DD1 reminded me she had girls football after school...so went to get her football boots to find i hadn't cleaned them after last time so they were caked in mud!! That made us late!

    Today

    [STRIKE]Lunch from store - philly on a bagel[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Send ebay item[/STRIKE]
Respond to ebay questions - £48 worth of bids now!
Write a shopping list for the weekend based on mealplan
[STRIKE]Work hard - in on my own today pretty much[/STRIKE]
    Clean DD's boots after football
Dinner from stores - jacket pots to use up philly and tuna
    [STRIKE]But a loaf of bread on[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Take chicken breasts out from freezer ready for fajitas tomorrow [/STRIKE]
    Kids homework
    Get everything ready for tomorrow
[STRIKE]Photo of the day - plan earlier - last nights one was a bit last minute thinking![/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Ring Orange[/STRIKE]
Make DD's eye appointments - keep forgetting this
If i have time - look into using my candle making kit
[STRIKE]Look up rocking chairs and sewing machines on ebay [/STRIKE]
Declutter one area of the house
    Housework

    Seems a long list actually!!

Josie - woohoo on the good date. I think that men that are happy to chat a bit are great. That is my hubbys biggest fault in my eyes. He is a very quiet man- doesnt really have a 'chat' about things - just kind of says what needs to be said. No nonsense talking but it can be quite lonely feeling and when i do say things to him he then denies me telling him!! lol
La E - what phone did you get in the end? I'm sure you will get back on track soon
KJP - i get paid on friday and last got paid on the 21st dec so it has seemed a loooooooong month!
Nat- big hugs regarding everything with you at the moment :( You sound very down - i hope things start to improve soon
Stitchy- hope you are having a great Stitching day :D

Edit - what happened to my bullet points?? They are all there in the draft copy but don't appear here!!

That really threw me too - I've tried about 5 times to get my bullet points back & it won't let me! Lol.

Know the feeling hun! I'm getting myself deeper into debt to pay for the wedding...more so than originally planned, eek! Payday is Friday for me & yet instead of breathing a sigh of relief & maybe treating myself to a little something, I have to spend as little as possible on everything! How did my £12k wedding turn into £17k?!
Enjoy your lunch, I think you deserve your little £5 treat as now you can be MSE going forwards :)

    Good Morning all

DNMS - Thanks for starting us off
Josie - Glad you had a great time
Perni - Your Hen night plans/ideas sound great, cant believe how some hen nights take as much planning as the wedding these days, lol, 20 hears ago (this year) we just went to "town"

Visit mum on way home from leisure centre and hope we can avoid the dreaded "funeral" talk - I really dont feel like talking about it, I know its good that she wants to plan and sort in advance but I worry she's giving up too (selfish, I know, sorry)

Hope you all have a great day, love to you all

    C x

Thank you I just hope the plan doesn't break anyone's budget!
I know everything used to be so simple & now weekends abroad with various activities are the norm. I just can't afford that & know half my friends can't either. The half that can are constantly asking about it though expecting a massive party! I think they're disappointed that I've said it'll just be Brighton now...

Hope your visit with your Mum is better than expected. Maybe it'll be best to get the talk out of the way & then concentrate on having a good time together?

My hen night last may was dressed as school girls, a meal at Prezzos and then around the nearest town for drinks. I used my own Mr T vouchers and changed them up so that i paid for everyones meal.

The only big expense was my bestfriend who had come up stayed with me at a nice hotel in town. Cost £95 between us so not bad. That obviously didnt have any affect on anyone else

Then i had a second hen night in CYprus where we got married. The 12 ladies just went out for a nice meal on the harbour and then for a cocktail at a bar before going home :D

I would feel embarrassed to ask my friends to part with £600 of their money! OH went to a stag do in benidorm a few yars ago. That cost us £500. That would have paid for us to take the kids to disney!

    Hi all

Good to see a chatty thread today. Congrats on the date Josiebabe..result all round I'd say!

Sorry you're stressed Natlie...hopefully you can manage with the extra work your mum suggested? 3 jobs and young kids tho is a hard one for sure.

Well not as early posting today as I would have liked but have spent about 3 hours on BudgetBrain figuring out what we spend on what, fine tuning etc the items under the categories etc. Am getting closer to posting an SoA..we shall see. So good bit of work there. Kowing where everything is and where its going makes me feel much more in control.

Tidied house a bit and then shelled out £69 for a new passport for DD2 and for a new photo card for my driving licence. Daylight robbery!! And that was before I had to send the licence recorded delivery, well it was strongly recommended.. another fiver..was this a ruse from the PO?! Should I have said no? Not sure but all very pricey!

Then as was on a roll spending cash I dont have :o went and got a top and 2 pairs of work trousers for £17 in the local charity shop. It was a sensible thing to do, even though will have to take the trouser hems up, as they are all good quality and will look nice for a fabulous price..but all of this, new front door lock etc etc that have been unexpected this will make the rest of the month very tight. We will do well this month to stick to our budget.

Made a small PAD to round down our account to the nearest whole pound.

Heating has been on for most of the day but lunch and dinner is from stores and meal planner. Away for work tomorrow early until Friday afternoon so all expenses paid for there. As per usual will also bring home the entire hotel toiletries selection!!

Quiet evening I think. Need to pick stuff up for tomorrow, do nails..maybe watch some telly..now that would be nice and will put my feet up. If he's in the mood will also speak to OH about the budget...will see how receptive he is to the idea ;)

    Have a great day folks
