Job offer from the EU...

I think we are saying the EU has failed because we do not have total harmonisation of labour markets?
However there is still mobility and free will.
OP, there may be some anger at yourself for not being able to find a job locally, and some at your wife for being stubborn. Not sure about the EU!
So this is a return to Auf Weidershen Pet?
I looked up German taxation on wikipedia and i think you are mistaken about the position. there is indeed a lower tax rate for married people. but the single rates don't seem to be what you think they are.
You would need to be earning 60000 euros (approx £50k) to be paying tax at 42% and there is still a tax free allowance. It is also a progressive tax rate meaning you don't pay the highest rate on all of it.
so, um, pretty much like the british taxes thousands of people pay.
Have a look at Wikipedia and come back and tell us exactly what you are moaning about. That tax for single german people is almost identical to to for single UK people?

New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
What a dilemma in standing by your principles. Which principle do you choose?:(I am 45 years old now, and have worked all my life and payed all my taxes.... I hate sponging of the state and I need to work to keep my sanity, if nothing else.... But it is a shame that I have to go abroad to do it and break up my family... I work in the construction industry but all the jobs are taken up by cheap labour from eastern europeans and I can't afford to live for £7 per hour.....
Cameron is the right man to get the UK out of debt, that Labour and many EU states got us into.. The open market was a good idea, and still is, But europe is not one state!!!!
In reality, alot of the squeezed middle class will soon find themselves in the same position soon, good luck to you all..
By the way, Its Germany, I face the tax liability of a single man, as my family won't be joining.. and this means not getting the benefits such as tax credits, family allowance or DLA... and she will apply to the state as a single parent!!!! I see no other option apart from suicide...- not sponging off the state
- not benefiting from the free movement of labour within the EU

She won't be eligible for benefits as a single parent anymore than someone whose husband in the forces would be!

Why are you claiming IS rather than JSA if you're available for work, even if you're only signing for NI credits?0 -
Ironically you complain about people coming here to take "our" jobs when you yourself are considering going abroad to take a job. Do you not think their locals may not have the same attitude and feel that job should have gone to one of their nationals?
42% tax, firstly I suspect this is inaccurate, but even if it is true you cannot rely on this number alone. First of all, what is is 42% of and secondly, of the take home pay you will get what would basic living conditions use up? Once you have the economics properly calculated you can then decide if it is worth while sacrificing your family contact etc for.0
