HSBC PPI question

After my 1st success with my MBNA account it has spurred me on to do the Questionaire for the other Credit Cards I've had over the years.
But I have a quick question about my HSBC credit card I'd like to confirm before I fill in the form and send it off.
I got a HSBC(Midlands) credit card in 1998 as part of my Student Account when I was going to University. My sole reason to agreeing to it was I had to take it to get a 4 year railcard
Now am I correct in thinking that the fact I was 18,a Student in Full time education just left school going to Uni means I was in fact not eligible to ever get PPI?
This will be my sole grounds for making the claim. Aside from that I only recall sitting in a room with the manager and her going through all the stuff about the Bank account and she could have really said anything tbh but fairly sure she would have not gone into the ins and outs of PPI,
Anyway so the next little twist is that the card closed down around 2005ish as I had another with a better rate. Now I do have every single statement from 1999(when I began using it) to 2004 when I stopped using it.
So basically do I have a decent chance of a claim considering I got the PPI as part of a Student Bank Account and I have all the statements to back me up if they claim they don't have records going back that far.
Thanks

You would not have been covered with this ppi,put that you have all statements if they require them, this way,you wont be waiting 8 weeks to be asked for proof if they cannot find you.
Look here and see if anymore reasons for mis sell applied to you.
