Accidental Damage (Contents Insurance) question

Hi there
Long time reader, first time poster!
I have a question regarding contents insurance. I'm looking to renew my cover and am struggling to find any insurer that will cover damage caused during the process of cleaning - whether in the general contents section or the accidental damage section.
I've been stung by this in the past and am desperate to get cover that doesn't exclude damage done while cleaning.
Does anyone know of a household insurer that will cover this?
Many thanks
David

What do you mean, during the process of cleaning........make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I can run this by the company i use but im curious.
If i go and ask them do you cover accidental cover caused by cleaning theyre going to question it...especially if you then go on to say i was dusting my tv nd it fell off the wall. Could you explain a bit more?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. There's a difference - if you're dusting it and it falls, then the damage is caused by the fall (and it's covered).
This particular exclusion (damage caused in the process of cleaning) means any damage caused by the cleaning - for instance if you wipe your TV screen with Mr Muscle and it is damaged.
Unfortunately, almost all policies have this exclusion, I can't think of any I've seen without it.0 -
of course if you used Mr TV instead of Mr Muscle to clean your TV and it destroyed the screen you could sue the product manufacturer (or is it the reailer?) So maybe some kind of home legal cover might satisfy your fears of potential cleaning mishap0

Cant recall the Hiscox 505 policy excluding it http://www.hiscox.co.uk/shared-documents/505%20Home%20and%20Contents%20policy%20wording.pdf0

It is a very common exclusion, I guess it discourages policyholders experimenting with cleaning supplies so that can only be a good thing!0 -

Your recall is corrupted.
They make it clear it's excluded:We do not cover the following.
Loss or damage caused by:
cleaning, repair.........
The number of times you seize an opportunity to "mention" their name here does not go unnoticed, and you really oughtn't to missell them to us like this!
Presumably you have more than just a passing interest in continually recommending them??0 -
They are not a client of mine, my connection to them is that they are my business insurer - their 505 policy is good but too expensive for me.
I have looked at them, and others that target the MNW and HNW space, for a competitor who was looking to expand their business in this area.0 -

There you go again!! (It's not as good as you wrongly tried to tell the OP!)
No prospect of you standing corrected over your bad advice to us then??0
